DWF lawyer launches English-language guide on the UAE Arbitration Chapter

Leading commercial arbitration lawyer Dr Gordon Blanke, from international law firm DWF, has launched the first-ever comprehensive English-language commentary on the UAE Arbitration Chapter, the arbitration-relevant provisions of the UAE Civil Procedures Code.

        Date: 30/11/2017

Dr Blanke is an arbitration partner and heads the international commercial and investment arbitration practice of DWF's Dubai office. The Commentary on the UAE Arbitration Chapter is divided into two parts. Utilising Dr Blanke's expertise, the first part provides an introduction to the practice and procedure of UAE arbitration more generally, essentially focusing on arbitrations seated in the UAE, including more specifically mainland or onshore Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The second part of the book provides an article-by-article commentary on the UAE Arbitration Chapter.

Specialising in international commercial and investment arbitration, and in line with DWF's sector approach, Dr Blanke has worked on arbitrations across a variety of industry sectors for the business, including private equity, banking and finance, construction/real estate, commodities, hospitality, oil and gas and shipping. Gordon is currently leading on the development of the practice in the UAE and has extensive experience across all types of international commercial arbitration in both common and civil law jurisdictions, across the US, Europe and the Middle East, acting both as advising counsel and arbitrator.
