Increased competition, evolving technology and economics, coupled with the need to improve financial performance has resulted in many businesses needing to change corporate structures. Managing debt is not always the main driver for corporate restructuring. Instead, corporate restructuring can be used to modify the structure, operation and efficiency of a business. This can be achieved through a number of ways such as the reorganisation of group entities, outsourcing and/or closing down of non-performing subsidiaries. This will be covered in more detail during our panel discussion.

Financial restructuring is the process of reorganising a business' liabilities to ensure the survival of the business. This can be accomplished through debt to equity swaps, renegotiation of loans, issuance of new shares and/or sale of non-performing assets. The aforementioned options will be discussed in more detail during our panel discussion.

The sale of distressed assets or divisions may form part of the restructuring strategy for businesses as it allows companies in distress to reduce their debt, dispose of non performing business lines and assets,  and improve their working capital positions. Purchase of distressed assets can also provide great opportunities for companies in better financial positions to acquire assets at bargain prices. During our panel discussion, we will discuss the elements which companies must consider prior to purchasing a distressed asset or business, along with the financing options.
